Forkhead transcription factors are key participants in development and immune regulation. Forkhead Box P1 (FOXP1) is a member of the FOX family of transcription factors which have a broad range of functions. Foxp1 is widely expressed and has been shown to have a role in cardiac, lung and lymphocyte development. As with other members of this family, Foxp1 has a diverse repertoire of functions ranging from the regulation of B-cell development and monocyte differentiation to the facilitation of cardiac valve development and lung development. It may function as an oncogene or as a tumour suppressor depending on the cell type. |
